PACK HIKES
Pack Hikes typically take place on the third Sunday of each month at 12:30 PM. Scouts will earn a hiking patch segment for their first hike and every 10 miles that they hike with their den or the pack. Scouts who reach 50 miles will earn a hiking stick.
2026 Pack Hiking Schedule:
For our March hike, we'll hike through our neighborhood Scouting for Food! Scouts can participate on either March 8 and/or March 15. Scouts who participate in this community service event will earn a special patch! Additionally, for each hour of service, scouts will earn 2 hiking miles.
This scenic 1.75-mile hike will take us through LeRoy Oaks Forest Preserve, passing notable landmarks such as the Durant House Museum and Pioneer Sholes School. We’ll begin and end our hike at the Creek Bend Nature Center, enjoying the natural beauty and historical sites along the way.
Join us for a 2-mile hike around Elburn Forest Preserve. This peaceful trail offers a great opportunity to explore the preserve before we kick off the Graduation Party fun!
On this 2.1-mile hike, we’ll explore the picturesque Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve, where we’ll have the chance to see the new bison that have recently been introduced to the area. It’s a great opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures in their new home.
This hike will take us through the scenic Fabyan Forest Preserve, where we’ll also visit the iconic Fabyan Windmill. It’s a perfect blend of outdoor beauty and historical exploration, offering a glimpse into the past alongside the peaceful nature of the preserve.
On this hike at Peck Farm, we will explore the natural surroundings and historic landmarks of the area while enjoying a peaceful walk. We may also choose to visit the Butterfly House.
This hike will take us through the tranquil trails of Afton Forest Preserve, offering a chance to explore its beautiful woodlands, wetlands, and wildlife. This hike features a cool look-out tower where you can seen several diverse habitats all at once!
Join us for a scenic walk along the Batavia River, passing by historical landmarks such as the Depot Museum and Batavia Dam. We'll also plan a fun stop at the Batavia Creamery to enjoy some sweet treats along the way!
The trail combines forest and prairie areas, making it perfect for a moderate hike and wildlife watching. On the this hike, we'll summit Johnson's Mound - the highest point in Kane County.
This preserve offers a peaceful hike along the Fox River. On this beautiful fall hike, we'll see change leaves and scenic river views.
This natural area offers diverse trails through woodlands and wetlands, making it ideal for hiking and spotting local wildlife.
